I love vintage cars. I love car shows. I love taking pictures of cars and people who attend car shows. Outside of driving, changing the oil and washing them, I don’t know a whole lot about cars. Yes, sad, I know.
MonteCarlo Productionz Magazine hosts numerous car shows around the Tacoma, WA area. On a gorgeous Saturday in early July, MonteCarlo Productionz held the Cruizin Together Car Show at Griot’s Garage. I was asked if I could not only take pictures of the event, but also be a judge during the pin up contest that was to be held at the car show. Of course I wouldn’t pass up such a great opportunity.
I was able to spend most of the day with the Bomb Girls, Valerie and Honey Lemon Drop, who were also going to serve as judges for the pin up contest. I set up in the Bomb Girls booth. I had my camera equipment, samples of my work, some promotional items such as patches, guitar picks and business cards, ready for those who may be interested in getting more info on scheduling a photo session.
We walked our way around, talking with the owners of some fabulous vehicles. Impalas, Nomads, Roadsters…so many awesome and clean vintage vehicles. Of course, many of the owners were more than willing to have pictures of their prized possessions taken. So I snapped away.
After spending an hour or so taking pictures of the vehicles, the Bomb Girls and I were introduced to the contestants of the pin up show. Jessica Rabid, Ms Rosie Blue and Leah were all dressed and made up in their finest pin up attire. We walked the grounds, asking the owners of some the vehicles if they girls were able to take some pictures either next to or inside of the vehicles. Again, the owners were more than happy to oblige.
The pin up contest then began. The girls were talked about who they were, what they loved about the pin up lifestyle, and how they give back to their community. After the judges tallied up their votes and made their selections, Ms. Rosie Blue was awarded the top prize and crowned Ms Bombshell.
In all, it was a fun and fantastic day of awesome vintage vehicles, awesome people, great music and Mother Nature couldn’t have provided us with a better day.
